Father Jeffrey Monroe

Father Jeffrey Monroe was appointed the Canon to the Ordinary for the Diocese of the Northeast Anglican Church in America in 2019. As of 2020, Father Monroe is the Vicar of St. Timothy’s Anglican Catholic Church in Charleston, South Carolina. He is also a licensed port, maritime, and veteran chaplain and is a chaplain for the American Legion.

He is the former rector of St. Margent Anglican Church in Conway, New Hampshire. He served as rector and vicar at St. Augustine’s Parish in Scarborough, Maine, Holy Trinity Parish in Waterville, Maine, and St. Michael’s Parish in Holderness, NH. He also served as curate at St. Paul’s Anglican Church Cathedral in Portland, Maine, as well as Deacon at both St. Paul’s Parish and Redeemer LCMS Parish in Maine.   Father Monroe served for several years on the faculty, on the Board of Directors, and as President of Logos House of Theological Studies, a seminary affiliated with the Anglican Church in America. He also served as Dean for the Northern Deanery of the Diocese of the Northeast, ACA, and as lay chaplain at two maritime colleges.

Father Monroe has an associate degree in Pastoral Studies, Bachelor’s degree in Sacred Theology from Logos House and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity by the seminary. In addition, he is a graduate of Maine Maritime Academy with a bachelor’s degree in Marine Transportation, holds a master’s degree in Transportation Management from the State University of New York and has a license as Master Mariner, and is an Accredited Maritime Port Executive. He served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Merchant Marine and held the rank of Captain in the U.S. Navy Merchant Marine Reserve.

Father Monroe was born in Jersey City, NJ, and grew up in Northern New Jersey. He is married to Linda Monroe (nee Mallik). He has two children, Michell Ross (nee Monroe) of Charleston, SC, and Michael Monroe of Spokane, WA. Linda and Father Monroe also have two grandchildren. He is the author of several books on maritime issues and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal twice by the Commandant of the United States Coast Guard.
